What is LevelUp Academy?
LevelUp is a full-time, twelve-week course that teaches you the basics of software development, frameworks, and workflows to solve real-life development problems. By the end of the course, you will be capable of working on any assigned task, backend or frontend. You will also learn to ask the right questions, read the documentation, and find answers to technical questions. The LevelUp program is taught by senior developers with considerable professional and teaching experience. During the program, you will be mentored to gain real-world development experience on a practical sample project like you might encounter in a professional setting.
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking developers who have basic coding skills but are at the beginning of their careers. We are looking for recent graduates in Computer Science or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). You may also apply if you have meaningful coding experience but no formal Computer Science or STEM degree. You must be proficient in reading and speaking English (C1 or higher).
You are expected to know how to code and the basics of web development. Familiarity with Javascript plus any one of PHP, Java, Python, C#, Ruby, Rust, Elixir, or C/C++ is required. We will use Git (Gitlab), Slack, Jira, and Confluence extensively but will train participants (at a fast pace) on all of these tools. Meaningful participation in open-source projects is a huge plus but not expected.
* Has at least C1-level English
* Has a CS or STEM-related college degree, or meaningful programming experience
* Possesses fundamental programming knowledge, including OOP principles
* Has basic mastery of git (branching, committing, and merging)
* Has basic HTML and CSS knowledge
* Has basic familiarity with JavaScript
* Has basic familiarity with PHP (or some other object-oriented language)
* Has basic command of SQL (SELECT and JOIN)
