Your Role at MediaLab

Data and server side components play a crucial role at MediaLab. Our applications generate multiple terabytes of event data and information each day. This data is handled by a server side SDK. Our Data team maintains the server side code and builds the tools and infrastructure to help manage this vast amount of data. The data team is responsible for handling this end to end pipeline all the way from ingesting the data to storing the data in a database to processing and analyzing it. We're looking for a self-starter to join our growing team and help build the next generation of big data solutions!

What You'll Do

* Design, implement, and maintain data pipelines for extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources to various data services 
* Work closely with data scientists to design and implement data science, machine learning and AI solutions. 
* Maintain and improve current server side scripts, libraries, APIs and SDKs 
* Identify, design, and implement system performance and internal process improvements 
* Automate manual processes and optimize data delivery 
* Follow best practices in data engineering. Build robust and scalable software 

What We're Searching For

* 3-4 years of experience in a software engineering environment 
* Highly efficient in Python 
* Proficiency in Scala, Java or Golang is a big plus 
* Write clean, maintainable, and readable codes 
* Knowledge of Hadoop, Spark, Kafka or other equivalent technologies is a big plus 
* Solid OOP and software design knowledge 
* Experience with automated testing systems 
* Mentorship, collaboration, and communication skills 
* Knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, ETL processes, and business intelligence reporting tools is a big plus 
* Experience working with CI/CD, containerization, and virtualization tools such as Gitlab, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker 
* Development experience in the following areas would be an asset: Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure and technologies, Data Lakes 
* Natural curiosity and demonstrated pattern of exploring multiple approaches to find the most efficient, scalable solution to solve a problem 
* A passion for Big Data and an interest in the latest trends and developments constantly researching new tools and data technologies
