with top talent excited to collaborate with team members across the globe to
deliver innovative solutions for our clients.
Location and Flexibility
This is a hybrid role, which we’ve termed Work from Near (WFN). You’ll
work on-site from either our São Paulo or Porto Alegre office at least
three days a week and have the flexibility to work remotely for two days a
week. Our WFN culture is designed to foster in-person innovation,
collaboration, and connection with team members local and visiting from other
global offices.
The Opportunity
As a Staff Android Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain
Android applications that meet business and technical requirements. You will
work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design
solutions, and implement features. You will also mentor and support junior
software engineers and other teammates, fostering their professional growth.
**Responsibilities **
- Design and build high-quality Android applications to meet our clients’ business and technical needs.
- Take ownership of major features and components, from design to implementation and deployment.
- Collaborate closely with clients and cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and implement features.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the development team; mentor and coach engineers and promote a culture of quality and learning
- Effectively present complex technical and project-related information to partners in both spoken, written, and presentation forms.
- Design and architect robust networking and data modeling layers.
- Champion programming best practices, including SOLID principles and modular design.
- Collaborate with other senior engineers to improve code quality, testability, and maintainability.
- Enjoy contributing and guiding engineers across projects while following platform-level design patterns where appropriate.
- Understand best practices for making applications observable and understand the “why” with regard to the data that is being collected.
- Identify when and how technical debt should be paid off to avoid potential re-work or additional debt.
- Articulate the trade-offs around large refactors and foster alignment with our client stakeholders and project team.
- Contribute to thought leadership in the industry (e.g., contributing to blogs, giving talks at industry events, participating in local platform meetups, and open-source contributions).
Qualifications
- 13-15+ years of professional programming experience, with at least 8-10 years of experience in Android development.
- Extensive experience with the Android development lifecycle and ecosystem, including Java, Kotlin, Room, Coroutines/Flow, RxJava, Dagger 2, Gradle, Fragments, OkHttp3, Retrofit or Volley.
- Proficient using IDEs, version control systems such as Git, and command line tools.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD principles and experience setting up deployment pipelines.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Espresso, JUnit, and Mockito/Mockk.
- Deep knowledge of programming best practices and different architectural patterns (e.g., MVC, MVVM).
- Passionate about delivering durable, secure, scalable, and high-performance code.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a solution-oriented mindset.
- Collaborative, communicative, and able to work effectively in a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong mentoring and leadership skills.
