Tech Lead, Acquisition Squad

With over 100 inspired chefs from cities like NYC, LA, Austin, and more, our weekly subscription offers a wide range of hand-crafted meals to cater to various palates and dietary preferences.

By delivering over 1 million meals per month, we're also empowering working chefs, tripling their income, and supporting their growth. CookUnity believes in fueling stronger communities, partnering with Food Bank For New York City to combat food insecurity across all five boroughs.

What we're looking for

We're looking for a talented Tech Lead with the ability to iterate rapidly that loves food, big challenges, and a powerful purpose; who can get things done in a high-impact, small teams Engineering organization.

The Role - Tech Lead

The Tech Lead for the Acquisition Squad owns our web app's tactical and strategic tech direction post-signup. It’s a high-impact role with the ability to influence all parts of CookUnity. Our customers use our digital experience weekly to find their favourite meals from our 300+ item menu, and the Engagement Squad is responsible for making that easy and delightful.

You’ll be reporting directly to our Engagement Zone Director of Engineering.

You'll co-lead the Acquisition Squad with a Product Manager and work along with a designer to establish the product strategy, OKRs, and roadmap. You’ll also work with other Tech Leads to define the tech strategy and requirements. You will regularly communicate with senior management on status, risks, and overall product strategy.

Languages: Javascript

Frameworks: ReactJS, Redux, Sagas, NodeJS, Express, GraphQL and Apollo.

Databases: MySQL and MongoDB.

Infrastructure: AWS Based: Kubernets, S3, CloudFront and RDS.

Agile Methodology

Your Responsibilities

• Owning the design and implementation of platform features within our Javascript stack that engages customers and has a meaningful impact on people’s lives.
• Iterating on new and existing features to improve user experience and performance.
• Actively contribute to the adoption of strong software architecture, development of best practices, and new technologies.
• Improving the maturity of our technical stack with engineering best practices.
• Being part of the code review process and helping to mentor other engineers.
• Contribute technically to projects by being a hands-on coder, removing roadblocks, and repairing technical issues.
• Partner with members of Product, Growth, Marketing, Customer Experience and other teams to continually refine and improve our product in an agile process.
• Helping to have higher levels of uptime & supporting the on-call rotation that will help the business run 24/7

Minimum Requirements:

• You have experience designing and building cloud architecture, backends, middle ends, web apps, basically the whole combo!
• You understand how to interact with and build backend REST APIs.
• Previous experience leading or mentoring teams is highly valued.
• You have an advanced level of English

• You are excited by the opportunity to grow into a leadership role as the company expands.
• Experience with agile development methodologies and tools such as Jira.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
