Tech Lead, B2B Squad

CookUnity is a chef-to-you marketplace connecting talented chefs with consumers, revolutionizing meal delivery. We bring small-batch, restaurant- quality meals to eaters nationwide, crafted by a diverse collective of all- star chefs. With over 100 inspired chefs from cities like NYC, LA, Austin, and more, our weekly subscription offers a wide range of hand-crafted meals to cater to various palates and dietary preferences.

By delivering over 1 million meals per month, we're also empowering working chefs, tripling their income, and supporting their growth. CookUnity believes in fueling stronger communities, partnering with Food Bank For New York City to combat food insecurity across all five boroughs.

What we're looking for

We're looking for a talented Tech Lead with the ability to iterate rapidly, who loves food, big challenges, and a powerful purpose; who can get things done in a high-impact, small teams Engineering organization. We are creating a brand new squad, this role will be a key player in our new structure.

The Role - Tech Lead

• Help integrate an existing technology that has served thousands of B2B customers with the existing Cookunity stack without disrupting the current flow
• Manage the existing team of engineers and grow it your way
• Help shape the future of our B2B expansion and product by working directly with the head of B2B
• Learn the ins and outs of a complex operationally heavy business and simplify/automate processes with technology
• Oversee projects from a full-stack environment, with challenges on the front-end, backend, and mobile experience
• Be hands-on and build a world-class customer experience and get the opportunity to create a product that is going to be used by thousands of people right away
• Maintain/scale our AWS infrastructure

Your Team - B2B Squad

• The direct manager/PM is also an engineer
• 2 experienced devs with 2 years of experience developing the existing technology.
• Grow the team to 7-10 engineers by the end of 2024
• We’re a startup in a startup, with 4 other experienced and dedicated team members going after a whole new B2B market in a DTC company

This is our current stack:

Languages: Javascript

Frameworks: ReactJS, Redux, Sagas, NodeJS, Express, GraphQL and Apollo.

Databases: MySQL and MongoDB.

Infrastructure: AWS Based: Kubernets, S3, CloudFront and RDS.

Agile Methodology

Your Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of the B2B experience.
• Iteratively develop new features and improve existing functionality.
• Actively contribute to the adoption of strong software architecture, development best practices, and new technologies.
• Participate in and improve the code review process and help mentor other engineers.
• Contribute code alongside your team, remove roadblocks, and help repair technical issues.
• Partner with members of other squads to continually refine and improve our product in an agile process.

• extensive experience with javascript
• extensive experience using SQL and Relational Databases
• designed and built systems following service-oriented architecture patterns
• deployed systems into an AWS environment

• implemented and maintained unit tests and integration tests
• proactively identify opportunities to improve systems
